Timeless design begins with the smallest details
When you walk up to a home, the entrance sets the tone for everything that follows. It is the architectural handshake — a first impression that defines both style and welcome.
In Alresford, our client’s Georgian-style new build was elegant but lacked definition. It had the symmetry expected of a Georgian design, yet the façade felt too linear and lacked depth. She wanted warmth, authenticity and charm — something that would bring the building to life.
Gary White of Winchester Design & Build designed a front extension and an oak-framed porch that wrapped around the front and side of the house, introducing architectural layering, texture and craftsmanship.
The hand-dipped bricks softened the tone of the façade; the oak frame brought warmth and detail; and the slate roof and leadwork tied the extension effortlessly into the existing architecture.
The result is a home that feels grounded, classical and complete, proof that sometimes the smallest architectural gestures deliver the most powerful results.
Our client described it best:
“The house finally feels alive, full of personality and warmth. It feels like mine.” Thank you to Gary and his team.
